"Small homely family restaurant with a seafood focused menu."
"Great service, atmosphere and food."
"I ordered two glasses of beer and a glass of wine for my wife."
5 BEST DINNER EXPERIENCE on my camino! I traveled on my own and the owner was super welcoming and the vibe in the restaurant was amazing! The owner is very fun, happy and generous, food was delicious and reasonably priced, the pilgrims across tables were interacting. Everything was great! If one thing to warn is not to get drunk!! The owner was very generous to refill your wine glass and that was dangerous!
4 Tasty, traditional home made style Galician cuisine. I enjoyed the zorza, the spicy pork washed down with the house Ribeiro white wine. Friendly owners.
5 I found this place by accident while walking in town. This is the BEST SEAFOOD EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Benito the owner is a fun guy who treats you like family and María the cook, is a humble talented chef that could be a well deserved winner of a Michelin star. Best Galician food in the Camino!!
5 Amazing food from such a small kitchen. Cannot fault the food - delicious!!! We had the rotis eggs with eels and prawns, grilled squid and the Padron peppers.
5 We are doing Camino from Porto and it’s the first place where portion sizes are actually good. What happened to the world? Why to get advantage of poor pilgrims that are starving along the hard path? Feed them with good portions like this place. And the food is very decent, especially sea food. I ordered two glasses of beer and a glass of wine for my wife. And the waiter refilled her glass for free winking at me. I knew that if he is flipping off other customers the guy knows his job.
5 Excellent food and great atmosphere. The seafood is very tasty! Portions are good at decent prices. One of the best restaurants you can find in El Camino. The owner makes it a great experience.
5 What a treat after a hard day’s Caminho! You owe it to yourself!! We had chipirones a la plancha - grilled squid & Gambones fritos deep fried prawns & aoli and have some new experience dessert !!
5 Mesón Barmaña: A Tapas Treasure in Caldas de Reis Nestled in the charming town of Caldas de Reis, Mesón Barmaña offers a truly delightful Galician dining experience. If you're looking for a place that serves up traditional tapas with an abundance of flavor and excellent service, this is it. Our evening at Mesón Barmaña was a testament to the simple excellence of Galician cuisine. The "tapas" were the stars of the show, each dish a perfect example of fresh, quality ingredients prepared with care. We started with the classic pimientos de padrón, a handful of green peppers that were perfectly fried and seasoned, with just the right level of heat to keep things interesting. The culinary adventure continued with the incredibly tender octopus, which was served with succulent shrimp and delicate angulas (baby eels). This combination of land and sea was a revelation, showcasing the richness of local produce. The boiled pork ear was another highlight—a rustic, authentic dish that was full of flavor and a true taste of Galician tradition. Finally, the vieiras (scallops) were absolutely superb, cooked to perfection and a fitting finale to our tapas feast. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a few rounds of classic Spanish beer, which was cold, crisp, and the ideal pairing for the savory dishes. Beyond the fantastic food, the service at Mesón Barmaña was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The excellent service combined with the outstanding food made for a memorable and highly enjoyable dining experience. In a town with many culinary options, Mesón Barmaña stands out as a must-visit for anyone seeking a genuine taste of Galicia. It's a place where tradition, quality, and hospitality come together to create a truly special experience. We left feeling satisfied and eager to return.
